Temperatures sat around a balmy 8 degrees Celsius, a far cry from 2018 when the hoar frost kept things well south of zero. My team of Monkettes has a taste for roads less travelled. Ideally they go from nowhere to nowhere and there’s a quicker way for those in a hurry. This year our rally route included the Hakataramea Track, the Old Dunstan Rd and the Black Forest Track.

The Observer Services group within Fisheries New Zealand has taken overall honours at this year’s New Zealand Workplace Health and Safety Awards.
The awards were presented at a gala dinner at the Cordis in Auckland last night.
The annual awards, which began in 2005, are organised by Safeguard magazine and proudly supported by WorkSafe New Zealand and ACC. They are judged by a panel of five.

Lara Wall was diagnosed with advanced Hodgkin lymphoma in March and is receiving chemotherapy during the Waikato District Health Board s hacking crisis.
The Canterbury health board’s cybersecurity systems intercept more than 1.5 million attempted hacks every week but has “capable and current” solutions in place to prevent an attack like the one against the Waikato District Health Board. Acting chief digital officer Savita Devi said the Canterbury District Health Board – the country’s second largest such organisation – was working closely with Crown security agency Cert NZ and other health boards to “ensure we have the necessary mitigations in place to protect ourselves against further attacks”.
