Internal walls more about 20m from the point of initial impact on the Walkerston club’s front entry were found to have moved as a result of the repeated crashes during the January 6 break-in.
The walls are cracked and have moved from the load-bearing pillars, suggesting the damage was more extensive – and expensive to repair – than first thought.
Wests Leagues Club general manager Kingsley Theiber said structural engineers had inspected the building last week, with a grim report. Wests Leagues Club has had to close its doors to the public after a failed break-in attempt in the early hours of Wednesday morning caused thousands of dollars worth of damage.
That call was answered by clubs including from Seaforth, Sarina, Marian, St Helens, Northern Beaches, North Mackay, Suburban and Wests, with about 71 players registering. It was an unprompted gesture that bowled over Wests Tigers Bowls Club president Scott Grayson. It is a great response from everybody, he said.  There has been a huge response from other clubs and through sponsorship. Because of the happenings at the front door, we thought it would be a bit of fun and (Wests Leagues Club) has been really great to us. He said sponsors came through with cash donations, vouchers and other items to be raffled off with proceeds going to the club.

Police are responding to reports of a break-in at an Eimeo school overnight.
A Queensland Police spokesman said a crew was en route to Eimeo Road State School about 7.45am.
“Information came in that one of the school’s blocks has been broken into,” the spokesman said.
“The early indication is that someone has broken into a (a building) and there may be property stolen.”
The Mackay City Bowls Club, Wests Leagues Club and Sarina Bowls Club have all reported break and enters.
These crimes remain unsolved, with police treating them as unrelated to each other.
