Built in 1934, the Eungella Chalet building served as a respiratory hospital in its former life. Two local doctors ran the hospital, but it closed within the first 18 months of operation. When that didn t work out, the original land owner began running it as a hotel, laying the foundation of what the chalet is known for today. Epic views of the Pioneer Valley, great atmosphere and delicious food are just some things that spring to mind.

Mackay Criminal Investigation Branch officer in charge Detective Senior Sergeant Jack Savage said an investigation was continuing after a masked driver ploughed a stolen Toyota HiLux utility through the front doors of Western Suburbs Leagues Club. Sergeant Savage said the ute, stolen from an Eton property on the Peak Downs Highway, was used to break into the club just before 3am on Wednesday, January 6.   Three minutes of CCTV footage captured the frenzied rampage, with the car smashing through the entrance hall 15 times before the masked offender left the ute.
