WHILE the year 2020 may be one many people want to forget, it will certainly prove interesting to look back on in years to come – particularly for the younger generation. Pupils who left Llandysilio Church in Wales School to go up to high school this year, have ensured their recollections of 2020 have been preserved for posterity by creating and planting a time capsule. Donna Kendall, whose son Jensen was a Year 6 pupil at Llandysilio Church in Wales School, in Llanymynech, at the turn of the year, came up with the idea. She was inspired by the sadness that Jensen and his fellow pupils were unable to finish their time at the school in the traditional way with a proper goodbye to each other as most pupils were still at home heading into summer.
A NURSE and her young son have been overwhelmed by the generosity of Powys residents in ensuring many if not all of the most vulnerable children in the county will receive a toy this Christmas Sarah Voice, from Welshpool, a nurse from the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, has organised a Christmas toy appeal for the Montgomeryshire Family Crisis Centre in Newtown for the fifth year running. She has been helped again by her seven-year-old son Harry Voice, a pupil at Montgomery Church in Wales School. Ms Voice says this year the appeal has had its best ever response – and while there is no total figure yet on the number of toys donated, she says it is likely to be in excess of the 600 toys donated, last year.
