On wednesday, the president of the eu council, Charles Michel, and president of the Eu Commission ursula von der leyen are expected to officially sign off on the trade agreement. But this has to be ratified in a European Parliament vote early next year. Also on 30th december, uk mps will vote on the deal in a special sitting of parliament. It all means that tariff free trade will be provisionally allowed after britain leaves the eu Single Market at the new year. Borisjohnson has described the trade deal as a new starting point for our relationship with the eu. Our europe correspondent Kevin Connolly is in brussels. He spelled out the next steps for the deal.
