Nothing off the table as COVID-19 numbers climb By: Kimberley Kielley
The warning is ominous.
If Manitoba’s COVID-19 cases continue to increase, the province will do what it takes to ensure public safety, chief provincial public health officer Dr. Brent Roussin said at Monday’s press conference. We’ll continue to follow these numbers through the week to see if we get any indication of a peak occurring. But we don’t take things off the table if we’re going to protect Manitobans, he said. We wouldn’t remove any options.
On Sunday, Manitoba had the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the country. That point was not lost on Roussin as he explained the province will take the necessary steps to ensure the public’s safety, including a stay-at-home order, if deemed necessary.
