Jeremy Duckworth: Helping Small Businesses Create Paths to Success

The Birmingham Times By the time he was in his 20s, Jeremy Duckworth was on his way to creating economic development opportunities for urban and rural communities. Duckworth is executive director of the Central Alabama Redevelopment Alliance (CARA), an organization focused on helping small businesses become sustainable and building economic development opportunities in parts of Birmingham, Montgomery, and Selma. His experience goes back to his first business, which he started while enrolled at the University of Alabama (UA) in Tuscaloosa. “It was a marketing business called Neighbor Foundation, and it was through Amway, [a multilevel marketing company that sells health, beauty, and home care products],” said Duckworth, who was 20 at the time. “That taught me so much about people.”

So far five schools have taken part in Milo’s Wisdom Week program in Tuscaloosa city and county schools; Arcadia Elementary, Skyland Elementary, Englewood Elementary, University Place Elementary and Westlawn Middle. This week Hillcrest Middle School will have their students and teachers participate and encourage positive character development.

The testing will be held Sunday February 21, 2021, from 12:00pm until 3:00 pm.  Maranatha SDA Church is located on 2614 Herman Avenue in Tuscaloosa right behind Tuscaloosa Career & Technology Academy (the old Westlawn Middle School)
