Garden shows: Relax with Gardeners World and Martha Knows Best

As the weather warms up and the days stretch longer in the Northern Hemisphere, the call to being outside grows greater. Gardening is the perfect reason to stray away from your desk or procrastinate finishing those household chores. It doesn’t take much to call yourself a gardener – simply plant something in the earth or in a soil-filled pot, tend to it, and watch it grow.  With a lot of time at home last year, many people either discovered the joys of plants for the first time or finally expanded their green thumb efforts. Maybe you have a new appreciation for growing your own food, or you enjoy planting native plants for pollinators, or maybe you have a few (or a few dozen) houseplants perched on a windowsill or lining your patio in containers. Now blooms a new season as those garden projects started in the quiet days of last year have taken root and grown.

Library film club to watch The Gardener - CentralMaine com

Library film club to watch ‘The Gardener’ Share Contributed photo To celebrate the landscape’s springtime transformation from barren to verdant during May, Camden Public Library’s Friday Film Club plans to watch and discuss “The Gardener.” The documentary, directed by Sebastien Chabot, is about Frank Cabot’s Les Quatre Vents, a private garden in the Charlevoix region near Quebec City. The discussion about the film will be held via Zoom at 4 p.m. Friday, May 21, and participants are asked to view the documentary prior to the meeting. The story of Les Quatre Vents unfolds through the words of Cabot and his family, and with the participation of gardening experts and writers. The film looks back at Cabot’s personal story and the artistic philosophy that gave birth to one of the greatest gardens in the world.
