Apple began their smart ring project back in 2014 with their first patent application surfacing in 2015. We covered it in a report titled Apple introduces us to the Apple Ring in all its Glory. Back in September 2019 Patently Apple posted a report titled Google s Hardware Event to be held in New York on October 15. One of the major features that was to be introduced was the Pixel 4 s new In-Air Gesturing System called Aware which is illustrated in our cover graphic above. Apple has been working on in-air gesturing for years and our archives on this area of technology cover most of their patents to date.

Apple Files a Major Update to their Foldable Device Patent and a minor update to a Bio-Authentication System Patent for Apple Watch
On Thursday the US Patent & Trademark Office published a major continuation patent from Apple relating to possible future folding devices. Apple is either adding 20 new claims or rewriting their original patents claims for this invention. Apple doesn t proclaim which of the two it is.

On the last granted patent day of 2020, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office officially granted Apple a patent for a reconfigurable keyboard. In today s granted patent, Apple states in their background, that in order to help a user identify keys in a keyboard, keyboard keys are often provided with labels. The labels (which may sometimes be referred to as glyphs, symbols, key symbols, key labels, etc.), may be used to help a user identify keys. As an example, letter keys can be labeled with letters, number keys can be labeled with numbers, and function keys can be labeled with symbols representing mathematical operations or other functions.
