Sloley Throws All-Time Mark at Oliver Jackson Twilight Wednesday ABILENE, Texas   Danielle Sloley broke the 15-meter barrier in the women’s shot put for the first time in her career on Wednesday at the Oliver Jackson Twilight Invitational by throwing 15.10 meters (49 feet, 6.5 inches) to become the No. 6 performerin program history for the event. Sloley entered Wednesday’s competition as the No. 8 performer in the shot put at Clemson after throwing 14.71m (48-3.25) during the Tennessee Relays earlier this season. Despite Sloley’s all-time performance, Veronica Fraley led the way for the Tigers in the women’s shot put by throwing 15.90m (52-2) in the final round of competition. The pair of Tigers finished second and third on Wednesday evening, with Fraley’s runner-up result serving as her fourth top-5 finish of the 2021 outdoor season.

Roje Stona, Veronica Fraley and Danielle Sloley will represent the Clemson track and field program on Wednesday, April 21, at the Oliver Jackson Twilight meet in Abilene, Texas. Wednesday’s competition will begin at 2:30 p.m. (EST) with the women’s shot put. The men’s discus throw will get underway at 5:30 p.m. and will be immediately followed by the women’s discus.  Fraley enters the mid-week action with heaps of momentum following her first four meets of the season. At the Tennessee Relays on April 9, Fraley set Clemson’s school record in the women’s discus throw and became the No. 2 all-time performer in the women’s shot put. Her school-record toss of 56.70 meters (186 feet) broke Jamine Moton’s long-standing discus record of 55.52m (182-2) set back in 2001. KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Veronica Fraley had a historic outing on Friday evening during the women’s discus throw and shot put competitions at the 53rd Tennessee Relays, as the junior from Raleigh, N.C., produced a school-record performance in the discus throw and a No. 2 all-time mark in the shot put. The success came following Fraley’s marks of 56.70 meters (186 feet) and 16.30m (53-5.75) in the discus and shot put, respectively. Fraley entered the meet as the No. 2 all-time performer in the discus and No. 3 all-time performer in the shot put, and is now the first athlete in Clemson history to eclipse the 56-meter mark in the women’s discus. Entering Friday’s competition, Fraley’s mark in the discus would have ranked ninth nationally.

Historic Field Event Marks Propel Tigers at Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla.  A pair of No. 8 all-time performances from Harleigh White and Danielle Sloley in the women’s triple jump and shot put, respectively, proved to be the highlights of Saturday’s action for the Clemson track and field program as the 2021 Florida Relays concluded this afternoon. In total, the Tigers had six top-five finishes during the final day of competition, including one event victory courtesy of Roje Stona in the men’s discus. “[This weekend] gave our kids a good idea of what they can expect at the end of the season,” said Clemson’s Director of Track & Field, Mark Elliott. “There were a lot of teams at the meet that are ranked high nationally, and they are the competition we want to test ourselves against. I was excited that we got to do that.” 

Tigers Travel to Gainesville for Florida Relays

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson track and field program is back on the road as the team travels to Gainesville, Fla., ahead of its two days of competition at the Florida Relays from April 2-3. This will serve as the third weekend of competition for Clemson during the outdoor campaign and will be the second time in eight years that the team competes in the meet. Clemson enters the Florida Relays after two strong weekends of competition, as the Tigers have already combined for 35 personal bests and eight top-10 marks in the program’s record book.  The trio of Veronica Fraley, Danielle Sloley and Zico Campbell have been excellent in the shot put ring this season, as the three athletes have each recorded a top-10 mark on their respective all-time lists in each of the opening two meets of the season. Roje Stona returned to competition for the first time in nearly a month at the FSU Relays, winning the men’s discus competition and eclipsing the 58-meter mark on three of his six throws.
