Tauktae not likely to have impact on Oman: Met

Muscat: The Oman Meteorology office on Sunday said that the tropical storm Tauktae is not likely to have any impact on Oman for the next three days.
The National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre analysis indicates that the tropical cyclone (Tauktae) east of the Arabian Sea today (May 16, 2021) near latitude 72.2 E and longitude 15.0 N with estimated surface wind speed around the center (70 80 knots) (130-150 km/h). It is expected to move adjoining to Indian coasts and further intensify to Tropical Cyclone Category 2 within next 24 hours.
It is expected to make landfall on the Indian/ Pakistani coasts on 1e May, without any impact on the Sultanate. The sea will be moderate to rough during the period 17-19 May 2021, along most of the coasts with expected wave height ranging between 2-4 meters, and inundation of seawater is expected over low laying coastal areas in association with high tides.
