2 In Custody After Armed Robbery, Standoff

By: News On 6 Officials said that two suspects are in custody after an armed robbery and short standoff. The Mayes County Sheriff s office said that officers responded to a shots fired call at a home in Rose, Oklahoma that they said was an armed robbery. They said the suspects, a man and a woman, then barricaded themselves in a convenience store in Delaware County. The Delaware County Undersheriff James Beck said after a standoff at the convenience store for an hour and half, the man left his hiding spot in the bathroom and surrendered to the Cherokee Nation Special Operations Team.

TWO AREA RESIDENTS SERIOUSLY INJURED IN TRAFFIC CRASH

Two area residents suffered serious injuries in a traffic crash in Lafayette County on Friday, April 9. According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as 59-year-old James Harker, of Lexington, overcorrected his eastbound vehicle after it had traveled off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then slid off the left side of the roadway and struck a group of trees. Harker and 33-year-old Natalia Mays, of Richmond, were transported by Lexington EMS and Life Flight Eagle helicopter, respectively, to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence for treatment. Neither of the vehicle’s occupants was wearing a seat belt.

Man Indicted For Attacking Officer With Skateboard During U.S. Capitol Riot By Jaclyn Diaz  April 9, 2021 A federal grand jury in Washington indicted a Florida man for taking his skateboard to the head of a Metropolitan Police officer during the U.S. Capitol insurrection Jan. 6. Grady Douglas Owens, 21, was initially arrested on April 1 in Florida. He faces several charges including assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers or employees; obstruction; and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. Owens was captured on body camera footage using a skateboard to assault an unnamed Metropolitan Police officer, referred to as “C.B.” outside of the Capitol building, according to prosecutors. The attack caused a concussion and finger injury to the police officer.
