Chimney fire destroys Waitsfield Village home
Vermont State Police report that the cause of a fire in Waitsfield Village on February 24 at 3:30 p.m. was a chimney fire.
The fire was at the home of George Pakk, 81, of 4524 Main Street. Det. Sgt. Matthew Hill reports:
On February 24, 2021, at approximately 3:30 p.m. the Waitsfield Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Main Street in Waitsfield. Upon their arrival the found the single-family home engulfed in flames. Fire chief Tripp Johnson requested assistance from the Department of Public Safety Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit in determining the origin and cause of the fire.

Authorities are investigating a fire that broke out at a summer camp started by the late actor Paul Newman for seriously ill children and their families.
Connecticut state troopers and the Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit (FEIU) responded Friday afternoon to a report of a structure fire at the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford, Connecticut, according to Connecticut State Trooper Josue J. Dorelus.
Police did not provide information on how large an area was affected, but Camp CEO James Canton said the blaze destroyed the arts and crafts, wood shop, cooking zone and camp store buildings.
