Each year National Teacher Appreciation Week and Nurses’ Day takes place in the first week of May, and each year the administration at Woburn Memorial High School extends appreciation to teachers and nurses with tokens of gratitude throughout the week. In a typical year these small gestures of gratitude can seem somewhat insignificant in light of all that our teachers and nurses do. When considering the challenges facing school faculty since last March, this week of appreciation for both teachers and nurses is even more poignant.
As such, the WMHS administration would like to applaud our faculty for their habitual and immeasurable flexibility, innovation and empathy for the high school students, and especially since last March.

Woburn Public Schools receive $12K for livestreaming initiative

The Woburn Public Media Center board of directors recently approved a $12,000 donation to the Woburn Public Schools for their livestreaming initiative.
This donation was used to purchase speakers and microphones for classrooms to help with a better quality experience for classroom livestreaming to students at home. The speakers and mics allow teachers to move about the classroom and still be heard by those students learning remotely.
Overall, the result was nearly two-thirds of the high school staff was either teaching students through livestreaming or as a result of students being added to cohorts allowing them to be physically in school four days a week. The goal was to allow for smoother delivery of instruction and progression through the curriculum, which was achieved because for these teachers asynchronous assignments no longer took place.
