Enough s enough : How Auburn is taking action against nuisance properties

The owner of a property on Easterly Avenue came to the April 15 Auburn City Council meeting to speak about issues that he, his tenants and others have faced with residences of a nearby property, 1 Easterly Place.
With the eyes of city officials fixed squarely on him, Scala said he has been hearing concerns from his tenants and the neighborhood watch in that area. He talked about drugs, needles, money and guns. He was told earlier that week that a magazine for a high-capacity rifle was found.

I think everybody knows about it. What can we do? That s my question to you.
Five civilians have been nominated to serve on a new, nine-person board tasked with reviewing police use of force incidents in Indianapolis.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Chief Randal Taylor announced the new board in October, following months of civil unrest over policing here and across the country.
The board will include four officers and five civilians. Two civilians are nominated by the mayor and three by City-County Council President Vop Osili.
The chief of police gets final say on appointments, according to the department s general orders.
The board will have access to all reports, statements and recordings as part of an administrative review of use of force incidents. They can also question witnesses and hold hearings. The board will not be able to recommend discipline, but instead can issue advisory recommendations limited to whether the officer s action were in compliance with department policy.

BELLFLOWER (CNS) - One man was killed and another man injured this morning in a shooting in Bellflower.
A deputy traveling in the 15300 block of Pioneer Boulevard in Norwalk about 12:25 a.m. was flagged down by someone in a white vehicle, and the deputy found two men suffering from gunshot wounds inside, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff s Department.
It was later determined by detectives the men were shot in the 15300 block of Woodruff Place, near Somerset Boulevard, in Bellflower and driven to the location in Norwalk, the department said.
One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital with stable vital signs.
