Former Manipur Chief Minister and a member of the first Lok Sabha Rishang Keishing passed away on Tuesday following brief illness. The veteran Congress leader was 96. Keishing, a Naga, served as the chief minister of Manipur from 1980 to 1988 and from 1994 to 1997. Keishing passed away around 8.15 pm due to multiple organ failure, doctors attending him at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) said.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday amid reports that she was seeking help against attempts to alter Constitutional provisions that give special status to the state.
The chief minister, who arrived in New Delhi on Thursday, called on the prime minister at his Parliament office, sources said.
