New Hampshire health providers say they re going to need more federal and state help when it comes to vaccinating the general public.
Primary care providers and hospitals are expected to help with vaccine distribution starting at the end of January, when new groups of people become eligible for their first shot. That includes people ages 75 and over, people with two or more health conditions that put them at high risk of COVID-19, and other groups.
On a call with Sen. Jeanne Shaheen Wednesday morning, several providers said that next phase is going to take a lot of staff, which nearly every health provider and hospital in the state is already short of.
Health officials address concerns about vaccine availability
January 06, 2021BERLIN While there is broad support for health care providers and nursing home residents to be among the first to receive the Covid-19 vaccine, community members are asking when the vaccine will be available to the general public.
As it turns out, the answer is complicated, and depends upon a variety of factors, most of which are outside the control of local health officials.
According to Ken Gordon, CEO of Coös County Family Health Services (CCFHS), health care organizations in the region are prepared to administer the vaccine to area residents when additional supplies of the vaccine become available, and when federal and state officials authorize them to do so.
