COUNCILLORS in Warminster have voted to back proposals to block or delay the sale of the town s old police station. The move follows the Wiltshire and Swindon Police and Crime Commissioner s decision to open talks with a prospective buyer. Former Warminster mayor, Cllr Tony Nicklin, had proposed that the council try to buy the redundant building in Station Road. Members of the council s finance and audit committee meeting were told on Monday the building was already sold subject to contract. Cllr Nicklin said: “I am very disappointed because the police did write to us and say they were about to put the property on the market and would we be interested in talking to them.
