Tech company celebrates apprentices efforts on National Apprenticeship Week

A SWINDON tech company is marking National Apprenticeship Week by highlighting the work of its newest recruit. Taylor Salt started his work as an apprentice creative designer during lockdown with support from his new colleagues while completing his studies at Wiltshire College. The 19-year-old from Marlborough said: “I have always been a practical and visual learner. After a couple of years at college I decided that I wanted to learn and have a role I could contribute to and gain experience from. I did some freelance work while studying and found real life experience is more beneficial for me. “With Ntegra, every day is exciting and I have already developed my skills as a creative designer further and have obtained a lot of experience while doing so.

Sturminster Newton guitarist raises spirits at care home with song about Covid-19 experience

A GUITARIST has raised spirits at a Dorset care home after recording a catchy music video about Covid-19 prevention. ‘Hands, Face and Space’ is an original song written by Sam Hurst, 22, who works at Colten Care’s Sturminster Newton home. In a video posted by Mr Hurst, who lives in the town, sings and plays guitar as two colleagues and three residents sing and perform dance moves to the tune. He said: We had been planning a Newstone House variety show and our kitchen colleagues suggested we should perform a song about coronavirus. We wanted to make it all a bit of fun and involve residents, and then the idea of filming a video came up.

A fundraiser has been set up to build a memorial for the mother and daughter who were murdered in their home in Salisbury. A neighbour of Aneta, 40, and Nikoleta Zdun, 18, set up a JustGiving page as a tribute to the pair who were brutally killed by their husband and father on the afternoon of June 1. Huge industrial unit near M4 Junction 17 gets planning permission with hope for 1,300 jobs

St Modwen Park development A vast, new industrial unit has been given planning permission just off Junction 17 of the M4. The new 88,790 sq ft unit will form the second phase of development at St Modwen Park, which is set to be delivered next year. The developer sticks spades in the ground from February 2021. St Modwen’s first phase, a 106,200 sq ft unit, has recently been finished and is ready for its intended industrial and logistics occupiers. To be known as C88, the new unit has an internal height of 12.5 metres, 67 car parking spaces including 10 electric car charging points and a 50 metre yard depth.
