But everyone knew going in that Musk was no performer, and he actually did get better as he went along. He did himself no harm and probably made a few fans on Saturday, May 8, so score him an A for effort and a C for delivery. During the show’s opening monologue, the Tesla CEO said he was “running human in emulation mode,” as though he were an alien or a fairly convincing example of artificial intelligence. The audience laughed, but I had to entertain the possibility that he was telling the truth. I watched the rest of the show with that notion in mind.
