Program to prepare Old Algiers residents for health care jobs
A new initiative seeks to help Old Algiers residents ages 18 to 40 find training and jobs in the health care industry.
The W.K Kellogg Foundation has granted the program $90,000 to develop #EquityRising, which will eventually include other partnerships to build career and entrepreneurial opportunities in the Old Algiers community, a news release said.
Three entities announced a joint effort to bring equitable opportunities to the community: the Old Algiers Main Street Corporation, Resilience Force and Advanced Nursing Training.
Resilience Force is a national initiative that has worked with the city to create The New Orleans Resilience Corps, a program to help strengthen the city’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic while creating economic opportunity for those who have lost jobs over the last year.
