Subscriber only A Kenilworth man has died after he had to be cut from his vehicle in a crash on the Sunshine Coast last week. The 71-year-old passed away in the early hours of Monday with his family by his side. Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle crash on Maleny Montville Road and Landsborough-Maleny Road at midday on Thursday. The man was trapped in his dual cab ute when first responders arrived. The pioneering doctor, known to his colleagues as ‘Dr Al’, says it all began more than 40 years ago with frequent phone calls through the night to attend the scene of harrowing car accidents.
“At the time I would travel with my own rescue medical equipment, in my own car, so I started an advanced medical care service by default because I was asked to do it so often,” Dr. MacKillop said.

Subscriber only A man has been rescued from the mangled wreck of a car after it smashed into a tree near Bundaberg on Tuesday night. The Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called to the scene, north west of Bundaberg, just before 6pm. It s believed the man, who was the sole occupant of the car, suffered a medical episode while driving, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle. The four-wheel-drive reportedly left the roadway and crashed into a tree. Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) firefighters were on the scene, when the aeromedical team arrived.

UPDATE, 1pm: A man has been airlifted to hospital in Brisbane following a skydiving incident at Toogoolawah.
It is understood the man was involved in a landing mishap about 11.15am.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman confirmed het was flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition.
He reportedly sustained serious injuries to his legs.
A representative for Skydive Ramblers, based at Toogoolawah, confirmed the patient was a customer.
The Australian Parachute Federation is expected to comment on the matter this morning.
