Man airlifted with injuries after beach motorbike crash

Premium Content Subscriber only A man in his 40s was airlifted to hospital on Sunday afternoon after he was injured in a motorbike accident at Rainbow Beach. Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics were first on scene at 3:32pm and treated the rider for chest and back injuries. The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called to the beach, north east of Gympie, just after 4:15pm. Picture: LifeFlight A LifeFlight spokesperson said the man had been travelling with a group of other motorcycle riders along the beach, when his bike hit some wet sand and he lost control.

The Ithaca-Caloundra life member was speaking to club mates when he heard a woman screaming shortly before midday. The boy had reportedly been diving from a sand bank into the water at Bulcock Beach when he was injured. Mr McClelland pulled the teen from the water and immediately performed CPR until he was successfully revived. Two surf life savers travelling from Adelaide also assisted.

Premium Content Subscriber only UPDATE: A teen is set to be flown to a Brisbane hospital after an incident at a Caloundra beach. A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics were treating the teenage boy for suspected spinal injuries after a reported diving incident. It’s understood the teen is currently being taken to meet with the rescue helicopter. A Surf Life Saving Queensland spokeswoman said it was understood the boy hit a sandbar after diving under a wave. An RACQ LifeFlight Rescue spokeswoman said a crew was waiting to meet the boy at Caloundra Airport. “Our doctor and paramedic are with Queensland Ambulance Service officers at the moment.”
