Saudi expat, Biman employee held with gold worth Tk 2.21cr at Dhaka airport

Customs officials detained two, including a Saudi expatriate, along with 18 gold bars weighing 3.4 kg at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport early today.
The detainees are Momenur Rahman, a Bangladeshi living in Saudi Arabia, and his associate Nazrul Forayzi, an employee of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, customs officials said.
Momenur smuggled the gold hidden inside a portable light into the country on the SV802 flight that landed at the airport around 12:30 am.
As Nazrul was assisting Momenur to leave the airport s green channel smoothly, the officials intercepted both of them and asked whether they had any gold, or taxable items with them, Abdus Sadek, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Customs House, told The Daily Star.

KARACHI:
Police on Sunday lodged a first information report (FIR) against unknown persons who tried to dishonour the statue of Priest King at a site of Mohenjo Daro – one of the largest settlements of ancient Indus Valley Civilisation.
The case was registered by Airport Police Station in Mohenjo Daro on the complaint of the watchman of the archaeological site. The case has been registered under Section 295-A which deals with deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs, a duty officer at the police station said.
