A man, aged around 30, who is believed to be a suicide bomber, blew himself up near a police outpost at Airport intersection in Uttara of Dhaka this evening.
“A man exploded a bomb in front of a police box on Airport road and killed himself around 7:40 pm,” Nure Azam Mia, officer-in-charge of Airport Police Station, told The Daily Star.
“It’s a suicide attack,” the police official said but could not confirm the identity of the “bomber” immediately.
The blast took place in front of the office of the assistant police commissioner (Uttara traffic zone) and the new airport police box, our correspondent reports from the spot.

A newborn was killed and at least 15 others were injured when an ambulance collided head-on with a bus in Barishal s Babuganj upazila yesterday afternoon.
The accident happened on Barisal-Dhaka highway in Rampatti area around 1:30pm, said police.
Seven of the injured were admitted to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

A newborn was found in a bush near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka this morning.
The baby girl, aged only a day or two, was admitted at Dhaka Medical College Hospital after an airport cleaner found her, abandoned, around 11:30am.
Jahura Akter said they were working when her colleague Rehana heard the sounds of a baby crying from a bush on the north side of the airport. She found the baby wrapped in a towel and we took her to Airport Police Station. With the help of police, the baby was rushed to DMCH, she said.
