Winona State Softball drops doubleheader to Mankato

It was a tough day on the diamond for No. 13 Winona State Softball, as the Warriors dropped a home doubleheader to fellow Top-25 team MSU-Mankato Tuesday afternoon.
The bats were quiet in both games for the Warriors. Winona State lost a pitcher’s duel 3-1 in the first game, with Logan grad Jordyn Kleman taking the loss. Game two was more one-sided, with the Mavericks winning 11-2.
Winona State next travels to Sioux Falls this weekend.

WINONA, Minn. (WKBT)–Winona State got to work in the second game of their doubleheader, with 6 unanswered runs before Northern State responded with 7 of their own in the third.
The Warriors then scored in the bottom of the six, as Rylee Stout tied the game with a 3-run homerun, before Lily Neveau hit a solo shot of her own to gain the lead at 10-9.
The Warriors next host 20th ranked Minnesota State-Mankato Wednesday for a doubleheader.

Winona State Softball starts new season ranked in Top 25

College softball season is not far away for Winona State. The Warriors come into a season with high expectations for themselves, and the rest of Division II apparently agrees.
The Warriors are ranked 15th in the country in Division II’s preseason coaches poll. Only one other Northern Sun team made the list, and that’s the always dangerous Augustana at No. 2.
Winona State played just 19 games before the coronavirus shut down their 2020 season, but thanks to the extra year of eligibility, Winona State will have elite senior playmakers returning, like catcher Ali Nowak and one of the best pitchers in the nation in Jordyn Kleman.
