Damaged verges in Whitworth Avenue and Mulberry Close Money should be set aside in next year’s borough council budget to repair grass verges damaged by cars and vans and to prevent more being destroyed. The cabinet is also being asked to create more parking spaces that could be rented to residents and help with the cost of dealing with dropped kerb applications. But members of the communities and place overview and scrutiny committee, which made the recommendations, raised doubts that there is anything like enough money available to really address the issue. A working group report on pavement parking and damage to verges was presented to the committee by its former chairman Matthew Courtliff.
