Municipal commissioner Mahendra Singh Tanwar said, “We will install rainwater harvesting systems in 200 of our parks which is in addition to the 89 parks where the system is already in place. This will help us recharge the groundwater level in the city,” Tanwar added. According to Ghaziabad police data, a total of 1,284 FIRs of theft have been lodged in the district from January 1 to June 30 this year, a spike of nearly 19% compared to the corresponding period in 2020, when 1,082 cases were filed. Most of the theft cases registered this year (977) are vehicle thefts. The data reveals that most vehicle thefts have been reported in Kavi Nagar (139), followed by Indirapuram (115) and Sahibabad (95). The most burglaries have occurred in Sahibabad (41), followed by Indirapuram (35).

The girl studied in Class 2 of a private school when she was assaulted. “The assault was reported on July 27, 2015, in Vijay Nagar area. Police had filed a chargesheet against the accused (Monu). After the trials, he was pronounced guilty by the court,” said Utkasrh Vats, special public prosecutor (POCSO Act). According to Vats, Monu had come to the girl’s house when her parents were away at work they were employed with a private firm in Delhi.
