Online dealer of toxic ‘slimming pills’ loses appeal over woman’s death An online dealer from Hampshire who sold toxic tablets marketed as “slimming pills” which fatally poisoned a vulnerable young woman has lost a challenge against his conviction for her manslaughter. Bernard Rebelo, 33, from Gosport , was found guilty at the Old Bailey in March last year of the manslaughter of Eloise Parry, 21, who died after taking eight pills containing the poisonous substance dinitrophenol (DNP). Rebelo challenged his conviction at a Court of Appeal hearing in November last year, with his lawyers arguing the trial judge Mrs Justice Whipple misdirected the jury in relation to whether his actions caused Ms Parry’s death.

Christopher Hunnisett: Killer loses bid to overturn ruling

A KILLER who bludgeoned a lover to death after wrongly believing he was a paedophile has lost a Court of Appeal bid to have the murder conviction overturned. Christopher Hunnisett strangled Peter Bick and hit him over the head repeatedly with a hammer in January 2011, before telling police the killing was “part of a mission to hunt down paedophiles”. Hunnisett, 37, who now identifies as a woman and is called Crystal, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 18 years after being convicted of Mr Bick’s murder in May 2012 following a trial at Lewes Crown Court. Her case was referred to the Court of Appeal by the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) which investigates possible miscarriages of justice.

Three judges were asked to consider whether new evidence that Hunnisett had a psychotic illness undermined the safety of the conviction. But on Thursday they dismissed the appeal, saying there was no proper basis to admit the fresh evidence . Hunnisett handed herself in at Hastings police station on 11 January 2011, hours after killing 57-year-old supermarket worker Mr Bick.

Former Metropolitan Police Superintendent Novlett Robyn Williams appeal against her conviction dismissed

The Metropolitan Black Police Association have publicly supported Williams. A HIGH profile black police officer has lost her appeal against a conviction for a child abuse video on her phone. In 2003, Novlett Robyn Williams was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal for distinguished service. In November 2019, she was sentenced to 200 hours of community service for possessing an indecent image on her phone. The 56-year-old had previously been well-regarded for her work after the Grenfell tower fire and Notting Hill Carnival. Williams received the indecent video via Whatsapp from her older sister Jennifer Hodge aged 57, but denied seeing it. Her sister had been sent the video by her partner Dido Massivi, aged 63.
