Evacuations levels have been lowered for a fire burning off of Highway 395 near Mead, Washington, according to the Spokane County Fire District 4. Fire officials said the Hazard Hill Fire is burning an estimated 50-70 acres with smoke visible in the sky. It began burning in heavy timber and brush just before 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 25.

A 500-acre fire started burning in Whitman County at 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday, according to CBS affiliate KLEW TV. Fire Crews from Whitman County, Asotin County Fire District #1 and City of Clarkston are currently on scene.  State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Steptoe Canyon Fire located in Whitman County, near the town of Colton. The fire is currently burning in grass and brush. 

Evacuation Ordered For 250-Acre Fire Outside Cheney

Credit Spokane Fire District 8 Firefighters A growing fire is burning near Cheney and emergency responders are urging people in the area to evacuate. Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste has authorized the state to mobilize its resources against the fire. According to a tweet from Washington State Emergency Management, it s threatening more than 137 homes and Interstate 90. State Patrol Trooper Jeff Sevigney said in a tweet Monday evening the fire is about 250 to 300 acres and growing. Both aircraft and firefighters are on the scene.  People who live in the area between Melville Road, Spotted, Andrus and Soda are in extreme danger, and need to leave now.
