ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - On Friday, Albany Technical College held a dedication in honor of Lemuel Griffin, where friends and families came together to share their memories for a hometown hero and mentor.
âMr. Lem Griffin was one of the most respected leaders in this community,â said Anthony Parker, president of Albany Tech.
Griffin was a man who wore his heart on his sleeve. A member of the Albany Tech Foundation Board of Trustees and a proud leader in the Albany community. His love for serving didnât stop there. He was also a foundation member for Boy Scouts of America and The Salvation Army.

ATLANTA, Ga. (WALB) - Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp has selected a commission to look into the effects of Nashville Mayor Taylor Scarbroughâs indictment, according to an executive order from the governorâs office.
In the order, it states that Attorney General Christopher Carr, Mayor Ken Lee of Rincon, and Mayor Vince Williams of Union City were appointed to the commission.
The order explains that the purpose of the review committee is to âdetermine whether the indictment relates to and adversely affects the administration of the office of Mayor Scarbrough such that the rights and interests of the public are adversely affected thereby and to make a written report to me within fourteen days with a recommendation as to whether said mayor should be sus

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Thanks to the communityâs support and donations, the Phoebe Foundation has been able to open a new Light House.
The Light House is a place where cancer patients can receive treatment and wonât have to worry about travel arrangments.
The original Light House was built back in 1983, but due to a natural disaster, it had to be rebuilt.
Mandy Tedder, the philanthropy officer for the Phoebe Foundation, gave WALB News 10 a tour of the newly rebuilt facility Wednesday.

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - One of Albanyâs largest manufacturers and employers has stopped operations because of what is being called a âcybersecurity incident.â
WALB News 10 has received several messages from employees at the Albany Molson Coors plant that all of the plantâs employees were sent home because of a computer hack.
The employees said they were all told not to try to sign on to any work-related internet sites until further notice.
