(WALB) - The Salvation Army of Albany said its food stores are nearing a desperately low level and need donations now. The organization is very low on the amount of food it has for both its meal and food donation services. The Salvation Army feeds hot meals six days a week to anyone, currently serving between 80 to 115 meals a day. It also distributes food assistance to people in need. Salvation Army officials said they are seeing a “tremendous increase in need for emergency services, specifically food.” They also said they’re seeing a decrease in donations. So, they are asking residents to step up and help the people in their community.

(WALB) - The Albany Police Department (APD) is investigating multiple shootings that happened Thursday night, according to a press release. APD reported there was a shooting in the 1400 block of Elva Street just before 5:30 p.m. Police said two males were shot, one in the buttocks and the other in the leg. The release also said there was a shooting around 7:45 p.m. in the 1900 block of West Oakridge Drive. APD said a 19-year-old man was shot in the upper left shoulder.

Police said they are looking for Dequan Coleman, 19, in connection to Jaime Maccou and his mother, Cynthia Walker (Source: Albany Police Department) Coleman is wanted on charges of murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, the release states.

(WALB) - No charges have been released for an Americus man who was taken into custody in connection to a weekend shooting. Jaron Griffin, 22, is a suspect in a Police said the shooting happened in a shopping center parking lot in the 1400 block of East Forsyth Street near Belk and Hibbett Sports. ”Officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the area and found a male victim with gunshot wounds seated in a car in the parking lot. The victim was identified as David Joshua Mitchell, age 26, pronounced deceased at the scene,” said Maj. Hermon Lamar with the Americus Police Department.
