WALDO Waldo County Technical Center (WCTC) will host its annual Recognition and Awards Night on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at 6:30 p.m., to honor all students at the Tech Center, to recognize students who have earned special awards, and to present scholarships to members of the Senior class.
WCTC will also be inducting its first members into the Wall of Fame, which honors past graduates of the Tech Center who are successful in their fields and have given back to the community.
Recognition and Awards Night will take place on WCTC’s campus at 1022 Waterville Road, in Waldo. The ceremony will take place outside. Masks will be required to attend the event and will be provided for those who need them.

Chamber of Commerce awarded funds to support tourism
Kennebec Valley Tourism Council (KVTC) has awarded sponsorship support funds in the amount of $1,662.50 to Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce for the Taste of Waterville to assist in the growth of tourism in Maine’s Kennebec Valley and produce a positive economic impact on the region.
Mid-Maine Chamber was one of 12 sponsorship recipients awarded as part of the 2021 KVTC marketing partnership program. In total, the 2021 KVTC sponsorship support application requests reached nearly $29,100. The organization was unable to fully fund all regional sponsorship requests to its members this year. However, with the help of Brookfield Renewable U.S., KVTC was able to fund $19,351.50. KVTC is excited to award sponsorships to local organizations who are helping KVTC promote the Kennebec Valley region as a destination place with their own marketing initiatives.

LIBERTY Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021 marks the fourth annual Riley’s Wish Ice Fishing Derby and Winter Games in Liberty.
Riley Boulay loved the great outdoors and all the activities that went along with it; from baseball to ice fishing. He also loved attending the Electrical Trades Program at Waldo County Technical Center (WCTC), where he was a student at the time of his passing in December, 2017.
To honor Riley’s memory and his passions, The Boulay family started the tradition of Riley’s Wish. According to a Derby news release, Jackie Boulay, Riley’s mom, who is also the Culinary instructor at WCTC, states that “our main goal is for families to get out, make memories and have fun!”
Waldo County Technical Center becomes February recipient of Hannaford reusable bag fundraiser Fri, 02/05/2021 - 1:00pm

Waldo County Technical Center (WCTC) has been chosen to be the recipient of Hannaford Helps reusable bag program for the month February.
According to Hannaford’s website, “each time a shopper purchases the $2.50 Fight Hunger Bag at your selected Hannaford location your nonprofit will receive a $1 donation, unless otherwise directed by the Giving Tag.”
The program within WCTC that will receive donations is the Food4Friends/Cool2Be Warm program, which provides clothing, food and toiletries free of charge to Tech Center students in need.
