Family, farming and politics defined Mert Schneider, the longtime county councillor and former Perth County warden who died Sunday at the age of 75.
“He was dedicated,” current warden Jim Aitcheson said. “He did his homework … (and) he was exactly what he portrayed himself to be. There was no beating around the bush. He was a straight-up guy. I liked Mert.”
