Punjab Farmers Take Out Anti-Lockdown Protest Marches, Defy Restrictions
Hundreds took out âanti-lockdownâ protest marches, urging traders and other non-essential shopkeepers to open their shops. However, a majority of trader bodies did not comply with their demand.

Jammu: Thirty-odd farmersâ unions, under the banner of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), who have been protesting against the three agri-marketing laws on the borders of New Delhi for over 200 days now, gathered in large numbers across Punjab to defy the COVID-19 weekend restrictions that were imposed in the state.

LUCKNOW: Amid a surge in coronavirus cases, the Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday decided to increase the duration of the weekend lockdown till 7am on May 10, an official spokesman said here. The corona curfew from Friday 8pm to Tuesday 7am, which was extended on May 3 for 48 hours and is in force till May 6 till 7 am has been further extended till Monday (May 10) 7am, an official spokesman said here.
All shops and establishments will now remain closed till Monday 7am.
The official said that further decision to extend the curfew will be taken on Sunday.
The decision for extension has been taken for breaking the chain of coronavirus.

CHANDIGARH: The BJP-JJP coalition government led by chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday announced its decision to impose a complete lockdown in Haryana for a week from Monday. The decision comes just days after it had imposed a weekend lockdown in nine districts Panchkula, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Sonipat, Rohtak, Karnal, Hisar, Sirsa, and Fatehabad to combat the surge in Covid-19 cases.
Haryana on Sunday reported 13,322 new cases and 145 deaths, with the NCR districts contributing the bulk of the total count. The spike in the cases led the Haryana government to impose a complete lockdown.
