ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The clouds rolled in across Southcentral today, but no rain and temperatures stayed warm. A storm is moving into the Gulf of Alaska, which will eventually spread light rain showers across most of Southcentral. The coast areas will be the first to see it early in the day, followed by Anchorage and the valley later into the afternoon. The rainfall totals out of this storm will be light and then we’ll get right back to dry, partly sunny skies Wednesday.

A few showers will linger in Prince William Sound and across the Copper River Basin, but sunny skies will hold into the weekend for the rest of the region. This storm brought in .08″ of rain to Anchorage, not much, but it bumped our monthly total to 0.17″ which is still more than a quarter of an inch below normal for an average April. This month tied for the 14th driest April on record and was the driest April in seven years.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Anchorage reached 60° for the second time in five days, breaking another record high temperature! The previous record was just 57° set in 1956. A normal high temperature on April 23rd is only 48°. Anchorage has reached at least 51° for eight days straight, and Friday’s record high comes just 5 days after we set a record high of 61° earlier in the week. There are only 10 other years on record with even one 60° day in April and only 3 other years with 2 60° days. The most 60 degree days we’ve ever seen in April is six, that was in 2005.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - It was another warm afternoon across Southcentral with temperatures reaching the 50s and low 60s for the seventh day in a row, following record cold in the single digits just days before. Anchorage has been within one degree of the record high three days in a row now, following the record high set on the 19th of 61° and there’s no end in sight for this unseasonably warm weather.
