Wind storm brings hazardous conditions to Bay Area

CalFire responded to at least 10 vegetation fires across San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties Monday night and Tuesday morning.
Emergency agencies throughout the San Francisco Bay Area dispatched teams Tuesday morning (Jan. 19) to extinguish vegetation fires, clear fallen trees and assist with power outages following hazardous wind conditions overnight.
Some parts of the region, including the Diablo Range and Santa Cruz Mountains, experienced wind gusts in excess of 70 mph, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). In Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and Mountain View, gusts reached up to approximately 29 mph.
Landslide closes I-84 east at Troutdale: Road closure list for metro area

A landslide has closed eastbound Interstate 84 east of Troutdale indefinitely. The slide covered the roadway about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday near Dodson in the Columbia River Gorge.
First responders from the Multnomah County Sheriff and the Oregon Department of Transportation are on the scene assessing the damage, but the landslide remains active as of 5 a.m. and could continue to grow. The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for this area. Residents of the community of Dodson are being told to evacuate.

A Flash Flood Warning is in effect in Multnomah County.
Officials are asking residents in Dodson, Oregon to evacuate the area immediately. The Northwest Weather Service says the situation has been deemed too dangerous to send rescue crews.
The Multnomah County Sheriff s Office says the Red Cross has rooms available for evacuees at the Best Western Hood River.
Crews are responding to several landslides around the Portland area and SW Washington, after heavy rain hit the region Tuesday.
The Multnomah County Sheriff s Office says a landslide early Wednesday morning has closed the eastbound lanes of I-84 in the Troutdale area.

One person was rescued in a house fire on Skyline Boulevard in Woodside early Sunday morning, according to Cal Fire.
The fire was reported around 1 a.m. at a second-story home in the 13000 block of Skyline Boulevard near County Road, according to Cal Fire spokesperson Cecile Juliette.
The blaze was reported by a tenant who lived in an attached unit to the main residence, Juliette said.
