Dauphin County is unveiling a brand-new elections office officials say will greatly improve the voter experience and the efficiency of counting ballots.
The 9,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art facility will open to the masses at 1251 S. 28th St. just in time for the municipal primary election on May 18.
The new Elections and Voter Registration Office has moved into a building the county has owned for years that sat vacant since 2016, according to Dauphin County Commissioner Mike Pries. The elections office was previously in the Dauphin County Administration Building in downtown Harrisburg.
A higher court will decide the final makeup of the primary ballot in the race for Erie County clerk of records.
The Erie County Board of Elections on Thursday voted unanimously on Thursday to file an appeal with state Commonwealth Court in the case of candidate Anthony Buzz Andrezeski, a former state senator.
The three-member board voted at an emergency meeting at noon after Erie County Judge Daniel Brabender on Tuesday refused the board s request that he reverse his March 22 decision that put the names of the Democrat Andrezeski and a Republican, Chad Hershey, on the May 18 ballot in the clerk of records race.
