A man suffered head and leg injuries and the Peak Downs Highway was shut after a tow truck crashed west of Mackay Wednesday.
Police reported a truck was towing a vehicle when it left the highway near Old Rocky Waterholes Rd near Greenmount, southwest of Walkerston, about 7.50pm.
Paramedics treated a man at the scene for head and leg injuries before he was taken to Mackay Base Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
A critical care paramedic was on board for the transport.
The Peak Downs Highway was closed for more than an hour as the truck and vehicle it was towing was cleared from the scene.
