Bluff, forthright, convivial Sir Arthur William Fadden, who introduced his budget last week, has come a long way in the world since the day, 41 years ago, when young âArtieâ Fadden started work as a âbilly boyâ and rouseabout for a gang of Queensland cane-cutters.

Mr Andrew said traffic islands on the Peak Downs Highway at Walkerston needed to be shortened to remove hazards for trucks. He said the Bruce Highway between Alligator Creek and Sarina needed urgent repairs. Mr Andrew said he had previously asked the Department of Transport and Main Roads to conduct an audit on the stretch of road. Fifteen minutes later, her entire Kuttabul home was razed - clothing, precious photographs, heirlooms all gone. Mrs Brown, who is partially deaf, said her dog saved her life by coming into the bedroom to wake her, as she tearfully reflected on that horrific night two years ago that claimed the family home of 15 years.
