JEFFERSON CITY - United Way of Central Missouri held a news conference Tuesday to distribute $154,879 in grants to several of its partner agencies to help support pandemic recovery.
The funds came from the 2020 United Way Campaign, which exceeded its fundraising goal by $400,000. The rest of that money will be given as grants in late June. Jake Young, KOMU 8 Reporter

Because our community has blessed us with such great support, we have $400,000 in grant funding that we are putting out into the community. We re still in the pandemic, but as we re hopefully returning to a new normal, we are looking at ways we can help our partner agencies, she said.

United Way of Central Iowa celebrates achievements, notes ongoing challenges during Live United celebration
BY MICHAEL CRUMB, Senior Staff Writer Monday, April 26, 2021 3:08 PM Central Iowa made strides in each of the goals of its strategic plan, with more children graduating from high school, a higher rate of self-sufficiency and increased community well-being, according to the 2021 Community Impact Report that was released today by the United Way of Central Iowa during its Live United celebration.
The Community Goals for 2020 were set in 2008 and have influenced the work done by the agency in areas of education, income and health.
“The past 12 years have been amazing for our community and for our organization,” said Elisabeth Buck, president of United Way of Central Iowa, in a prepared statement released before today’s celebration. “With our community’s generosity and commitment to these goals, we see what living united can really accom
