DES PLAINES, Ill. - A mother and her four daughters were killed in a Wednesday fire that swept through their home in the Chicago suburb of Des Plaines, the cityâs fire chief said.
Killed in the fire in the two-story apartment building were Renata Espinosa, 6; Genesis Espinosa, 5; Allizon Espinosa, 3; Grace Espinosa, 1; and their mother, Citahaly Zamiodo, 25, according to the Cook County medical examinerâs office and fire officials. The father of the children wasn t at home at the time of the blaze.
âIt is a sad day,â Des Plaines Fire Chief Daniel Anderson said at the scene. âThis is a terrible day ⦠a tragic day.â

A 25-year-old mother and her four young daughters have been killed after a house fire ravaged their family home.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. in Des Plaines, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, when the Des Plaines Fire Department responded to reports of smoke at a single family property which had been converted into four apartments, according to a statement issued by the Des Plaines Fire Department.
