Alexis Cado-Suero was a fugitive in the Tyree Smart homicide

View Comments On June 5, York police arrested Alexis Cado-Suero, 15, for the shooting death of 16-year-old Tyree Smart, who was shot and killed March 27 while Smart walked in the 300 block of West Newton Avenue. A patrol officer found Cado-Suero while investigating gunshots that were heard in the area of South West Street and West King Street, according to a news release.  The officer found the suspect and tried to stop Cado-Suero, but he fled on foot. After a brief pursuit, the officer apprehended Cado-Suero and he was taken into custody, according to the news release.  Cado-Suero was taken to central booking for arraignment. He was wanted for criminal homicide.

Barring write-in campaigns, many of the races in last week s primary decided who will hold offices around York County. There s only one mayoral race in the county that s still contested  thanks, Red Lion! Even in York City, incumbent Mayor Michael Helfrich won t have an opponent on the ballot no Republicans ran in the primary, and no other Democrats did, either.   In races for borough councils, township boards of supervisors, constables, tax collectors, judges of elections, school district directors and more, only voters in one party had an opportunity to cast a vote for someone to fill the posts.

House arrest for York man shot in leg after pointing BB gun at police York Dispatch A man shot in the leg by York City Police when he pointed a gun at officers has been sentenced to house arrest after pleading guilty to two misdemeanor charges. The weapon was only a BB gun, but it looked like a real handgun, according to police. Donovain Randolf Lee Saulisbury, 33, of the York area, pleaded guilty Thursday morning in York County Court to simple assault and making terroristic threats, and in exchange his other charges were dropped, court records state. He was sentenced to five years probation, with the first six months on house arrest. Common Pleas Judge Harry M. Ness gave Saulisbury credit for the 30 days he s already spent in custody for this case, according to court records.
