Mar. 3—Tribal and other wildlife officials in Northwest Montana are mourning the recent death of a veteran wildlife official and colleague. Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal member Stacy Courville died recently. A death notice in the Missoulian indicated Courville, 53, died at his home in Charlo last week. Courville grew up on the Flathead Indian Reservation and was an enrolled member of .

MPG Ranch ecologist Kate Stone was named âBiologist of the Yearâ last week by the Montana Chapter of The Wildlife Society.
In a Facebook post shortly after she accepted the award, Stone said she cried when she read the nomination letters that talked about her accomplishments on so many different levels.
Thereâs a common theme in those letters submitted by fellow researchers, scientists, landowners and other folks who hoped that Stone would be honored this year. Not only is Stone tireless in her pursuit of knowledge about wildlife, but she is also gifted in her ability to build bridges with the public and getting people excited enough to get involved as citizen scientists.
