The county has been busy hearing from various departments and agencies regarding the 2022 fiscal year budget. The board must now go before the public in explaining the intent to levy the general basic property tax which exceeds statutory maximum. The board intends to hold a public hearing on March 15th at 9:45 am. The board will also set a date for a public hearing on the Wright County Budget on March 15th at 10 am.

Kuhn Drainage District, and nine other municipalities related to the 2014 and 2017 floods. Residents across Oakland County sued the county and 10 cities claiming the floods caused economic damage property damage, personal property damage, and out of pocket expenses to their residences. They claimed the sewer systems were defective and unprepared for that much rain. The Troy City Council approved the settlement at its Jan. 11 meeting. An $11.5 million settlement was reached between the residents and the municipalities, with $8.5 million being funded by drainage district money. The other $3 million was split by the 10 cities. Troy’s portion of the settlement agreement equals $34,333.
