LINCOLN, Neb. (Husker Athletics) Following a two-game sweep of the Northwestern Wildcats last weekend, Nebraska’s Cade Povich and Max Anderson each earned weekly honors from the Big Ten Conference on Tuesday afternoon. Povich was named pitcher of the week for the second time this season, while Anderson was tabbed as the league’s freshman of the week.
Povich started the series opener against Northwestern on Friday night and retired the first 11 batters he faced. He picked up the win and improved to 5-1 on the year. The junior left-hander was dominant with 7.0-shutout innings, as he allowed just two hits and didn’t walk a batter, while striking out five. The Bellevue native faced more than the minimum in an inning just once when he stranded a two out double in the fourt
