The Northwestern Wildcats hosted the University of Illinois, their interstate and Big Ten rivals, for a four game series. The teams traded wins and split the series.
The Fighting Illini got off to a good start Friday, taking a 4-0 lead heading into the fifth. Northwestern broke through when Hannah Cady and Skyler Shellmyer singled and were driven in by a Rachel Lewis double. Unfortunately, that was the end of the scoring and the Wildcats lost 4-2.
Danielle Williams went the distance, allowing eight hits with 10 strikeouts and no walks.

The 2021 NFL Draft has concluded for the Cincinnati Bengals, but the new additions continue to roll in through free agency.
One big piece that the Bengals needed to add was someone to return kicks. They got just that and more in the signing of Northwestern Wildcats wide receiver Riley Lees.
Out wide, in the slot, returning kicks, the @Bengals can count on @RileyLees to do it all! #ProCatspic.twitter.com/BRRxPphigL Pat Fitzgerald (@coachfitz51) May 2, 2021
During his career at Northwestern, Lees hauled in 111 receptions for 1,093 yards and nine touchdowns. He also added 21 carries for 43 yards and a score.

CINCINNATI The Bengals are one of the few teams drafting in the top five that aren t on the hunt for a quarterback.
With Joe Burrow on the roster, they can address other needs. The 24-year-old is clearly the present and the future at quarterback for the Bengals.
Even though they have Burrow, Cincinnati could add a signal-caller with one of their day three draft picks.
The Bengals have two sixth-round selections (picks 190 and 202 overall) and a seventh round selection (235th overall).
Cincinnati is doing their due diligence at the quarterback position ahead of the draft.
They met with Northwestern quarterback Peyton Ramsey according to Eric Edholm of Yahoo Sports.
Wilson is the owner of our best college-to-pro projection and our best text analytics projection. Per PFF draft guru Mike Renner in the PFF Draft Guide, “Wilson’s arm is special. He made more NFL throws weekly than any other quarterback in the class.”
Wilson earned a 96.5 PFF grade from a clean pocket last season (best in the class) and managed to mitigate turnover-worthy plays to only 1.2% of his dropbacks despite a 10.9-yard average depth of target the highest depth of the potential first-round signal-callers.
It should also be noted that while he didn’t face much in the way of pressure last season at BYU, Wilson failed to produce a turnover-worthy play in such circumstances, and his average time to throw was just 2.8 seconds, which is right about average in the NFL. The Jets haven’t been consistently good since the days of Joe Namath, and they may have found the second version thereof in Wilson.
April 30: Semifinals
Front-Runners: Davidson (10-2; 5-0), UMass (11-2; 6-0), Richmond (8-1; 4-0)
The conference split into North and South divisions for 2021 due to COVID-19 scheduling. Davidson is leading the South in wins and UMass is leading the North, both sitting perfect in conference play. Davidson has put together an impressive 2021 campaign with wins over Virginia Tech and High Point, but the real test will come when they have to face Richmond for the first time to maintain their status in the South. The Spiders sit No. 18 in the Media Poll currently.
In the North, UMass handled the next best team easily in a 21-12 victory over Saint Joe’s. If this score is any indication, they’ll likely win their second matchup against them, as well, to maintain the No. 1 seed.
