Rescue helicopter lands on First Turkey Track to help rider

Premium Content Subscriber only UPDATE, WEDNESDAY 6.30AM: A bike rider was airlifted from the First Turkey Track on Tuesday night with a suspected broken arm and neck precautions. Around 6.45pm the RACQ Capricorn Rescue was called by Queensland Health to assist with a male patient in his 40s who had a mountain bike accident. Rescue 300 was able to land 100 metres from the scene and were met by the Critical Care Paramedic, QAS paramedics and fire crews. The patient was stabilised and was taken on a short flight to Rockhampton Hospital. INITIAL, TUESDAY 7.30PM: The RACQ Capricorn Rescue helicopter was tasked to North Rockhampton just after 7pm on Tuesday.

Man kicks, smashes servo door to get attention of staff

Premium Content Subscriber only A man kicked a locked glass door at a North Rockhampton service station multiple times after dark, causing it to smash, because he was trying to get the console operator’s attention to open the door. Anthony James Davidson, 46, pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on January 14 to one count of wilful damage. Police prosecutor Sergeant Darrell Dalton said Davidson attended Caltex on Yaamba Rd, Park Avenue, at 4am on November 5, 2020 and kicked the front door. Sgt Dalton said Davidson was asked to leave by the console operator. He said Davidson then kicked the door a further two times, causing it to smash.

Accused rapist and torturer enters guilty plea during trial

Premium Content Subscriber only A man who tortured and raped a woman in North Rockhampton in October 2019 has changed his plea after entering pleas of not guilty to four offences in Rockhampton District Court on January 18. The defendant, who cannot be named due to legal reasons, initially pleaded not guilty to three counts of rape (domestic violence offence) and one count of torture (domestic violence offence). After an hour of discussion with his legal representative, Barrister Jordan Ahlstrand, the defendant changed his pleas to guilty. He pleaded guilty to two counts of rape (domestic violence offence) and one count of torture (domestic violence offence).

Motorists warned of temporary lane closures

Premium Content Subscriber only Rockhampton motorists are being advised of temporary lane closures on Lakes Creek Rd at Frenchmans Creek Bridge until January 22. According to the Department of Transport and Main Roads the work is part of the Type 1 road train access to North Rockhampton abattoirs project. Works will be undertaken from 6am to 6pm and motorists can expect minor traffic delays and speed restrictions through the construction site.
