SPOKANE, Wash. The Spokane Public Schools board approved new mascots for North Central High School and Garry Middle School on Wednesday afternoon. This move comes after Spokane Public Schools (SPS) unanimously voted last May to change the mascots and symbols of both schools, removing the Indians from the high school and Chiefs from the middle school. For the high school, the suggested mascot is the wolfpack, and for the middle school it is the ravens. In order for the mascots to be considered, SPS said they had to represent the spirit of the schools, identify with a characteristic of the school community, encourage pride and energy and and represent courage and integrity.
