2 HCS middle schools moving to virtual learning next week due to âstaffing shortagesâ Horry County school leader says information spreading about a âspecial board meetingâ is inaccurate By WMBF News Staff | December 18, 2020 at 6:37 PM EST - Updated December 18 at 7:29 PM
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - A pair of Horry County middle schools will have their schedules altered ahead of the upcoming holiday break.
Horry County Schools announced Friday that Conway Middle Schoo and North Myrtle Beach Middle School students in Groups A and G of the hybrid model will move to fully-virtual learning on Monday and Tuesday. District spokesperson Lisa Bourcier said parents and students at both schools have been notified of the change.
MYRTLE BEACH â As thousands in Horry County and across South Carolina reconsider their format of school instruction before the second semester, medical experts are casting a wide net in questioning the effectiveness of plexiglass used as dividers in classrooms, calling the measure a âplaceboâ and pointing to the lack of data to determine the true impact.
In mid-November, the Horry County Schools Board of Education unanimously voted to use nearly $5 million in state funds to install plexiglass throughout the district to try and combat the spread of COVID-19 in classrooms, something already complete in many other South Carolina school districts.
